MegaPhone v9.0 does not include fax functionality. Based on the Macintosh Telephony Architecture, MegaPhone relies on the underlying system extensions to differentiate between voice and fx calls and hand them off to the appropriate applications. The GeoPort Telecom Adapter supports the standard architecture so if you're using an older PowerMac with a GeoPort port you're all set. Unfortunately software shipped with existing modems doesn't properly support this architecture. We're working on a number of options that will satisfy different circumstances. Because newer Macintosh computers don't have internal modems that support voice functionality (and no Apple modems support CallerID), the most popular option at the moment appears to be the use of an external modem that supports speakerphone and voice functionality. MegaPhone is then configured to support voice functionality and the customer's preferred fax software is configured for the internal modem and a passive automatic fax switch like the ones sold by Command Communications (www.command-comm.com) is linked between the two. We are also working with products like LineShare from Stalker software (www.stalker.com) and vendors of fax software like Valuefax.
