MegaDial Bug in Beta 2.x
Product: MegaPhone v9.0
Platform: Classic under Mac OS X
Written: 9/30/2002
Modified: 10/31/2002

There appears to be a bug with the MegaDial feature while running on MacOS X under Classic which doesn't manifest itself otherwise. The bug involves how MegaDial finds its Locations database. Fortunately, it has a "fallback" location which can be used as a workaround.

Please do the following:

  • 1. Create a new folder named "Cypress" in the "Extensions" folder that is located in the "System Folder" containing the Mac OS 9 system that gets launched under classic.
  • 2. Locate the folder named "MegaDial Files" that is located in the "MPC" folder also located in the Extensions folder.
  • 3. Option-copy the "MegaDial Files" folder into the new "Cypress Folder" so that you have two copies of this folder both--one in ":Extensions:Cypress:" and one in ":Extensions:MPC:"
  • 4. Restart the classic environment if its already running.
MegaDial should now run properly under MacOS X.
